This is something you experience every day in the villages of the
Castelbello/Kastelbell-Ciardes/Tschars community. The community is located in the wide valley basin of Bassa Val Venosta/Untervinschgau at 600 m above sea level and is surrounded by numerous
vineyards and orchards. The community is characterised by numerous
castles, and the villages are spread over the nearby mountains: Castelbello/Kastelbell, Ciardes/Tschars, Maragno/Marein, Colsano/Galsaun, Lacinigo/Latschinig, Freiberg, Trumsberg, Tomberg and Juval, where the biggest mountain pioneer, namely
Reinhold Messner, lives in
Juval Castle.
